We have some exciting Playlearning news to share!

The children’s oncology rooms at Hospital La Paz, located in Madrid, Spain, have received a very special makeover. Lingokids and The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) sought to transform the Pediatric Oncology waiting rooms into attractive spaces where children can be distracted from their illness for a while by playing and having fun.

Now, the children who attend the hospital for consultations and treatments can keep themselves entertained while waiting to see medical workers. Kids can enjoy the bright and colorful scenery in the waiting rooms while playing on the Lingokids app. The new tablets, donated by Lingokids, are equipped with the Lingokids learning app for Playlearning adventures. Plus, children can get into the zone with brand-new gamer chairs provided by the RFEF.

Lingokids and the RFEF decorated the waiting room walls with iconic Lingokids characters, football motifs, and Spanish National Team elements. A total of 10 tablets were installed into each new gaming chair, giving patients access to the Unlimited version of the children’s app, which has more than 1,200 interactive videos, songs, and games. To use these tablets, children can sit in one of the 10 gamer chairs provided by the RFEF to make the gaming experience more unique and immersive.

The Office for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2030 of Hospital La Paz (a national benchmark in childhood oncology treatments) coordinated the transformation. Their mission is to contribute to creating a better world through the defense of people, nature, and the planet. They seek economic efficiency, the well-being of all people, and a generation of positive social and environmental impact.

“It is a satisfaction for us to be able to contribute so that children who are going through the difficult moments of cancer treatment or transplants can have a pleasant time in the hospital thanks to the Lingokids universe, with characters, games, and songs with which they will learn, have fun and they will be able to forget a little of the reason that has brought them there. And we couldn’t have better travel companions than the Spanish Football Federation, once again making sport go beyond the stadiums and become a reason for joy for those who need it most.

Cristóbal Viedma, CEO and founder of Lingokids

The new rooms have been inaugurated by the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales; the managing director of the hospital, Rafael Pérez-Santamarina; the Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz-Escudero; as well as several members of the Lingokids management team.

The idea is that this action can be replicated in other hospitals with pediatric oncology areas in other Spanish cities.
