Año nuevo familiar

The start of a new year is a wonderful opportunity to reset and refresh, especially after a busy holiday season. Beginning 2023 on a positive note with fun family activities can set the tone for the upcoming new year. Plus, who knows, you might even create some new traditions!

Looking for some inspiration? Kick off 2023 with these family-friendly New Year’s Day activities for kids!

1. Try something new

The beginning of a new year is a chance to try new things.

Is there a museum you’ve wanted to visit? An art activity you’ve been meaning to set up? Maybe there’s a fun recipe you’ve thought about cooking together? Seize the opportunity to do something together as a family that you haven’t done before.

2. Explore outdoors

Exercising and enjoying the fresh air can be a fantastic way to commence the new year. Exploring outside is a great bonding activity and moving your bodies can help the whole family feel energized.

Go for a long walk in the neighborhood, play in a new park, or even enjoy a game of tag on the beach!

3. Inspire creativity

New year, new creations! Looking for fun and engaging activities to fill your family’s free day? Break out the art supplies and let your child’s imagination run wild.

Paint portraits of what each family member will look like in the year 2033. Decorate pinecones with glitter and pom poms, then hang them around the house. Lay on the ground outside and use chalk to trace your outlines, then write New Year’s messages for the whole neighborhood to see!

4. Make resolutions

Making goals for the new year is a powerful way to start off on a positive note! These could be individual or family resolutions

You could make goal-setting a little more fun by creating a vision board. Use colorful paper, markers, stickers, etc., and hang it up on the wall as a reminder to stick to your goals throughout each week!

5. Rest and relax

The holiday period can be exhausting. Sometimes, the best thing to do on New Year’s Day is nothing at all! If your family needs some much-needed rest, why not do just that?

Watch a new movie or pick a classic family favorite. Snuggle up together on the couch and enjoy all your favorite snacks to celebrate the occasion! Movie marathons are a great way to spend quality family time together.
