Tips for Quality Screen Use: Don’t Miss Our Instagram Live!

quality screen use

As you probably know, we recently launched a Lingokids study on how to ensure safe, educational, and high-quality screen use. In it, we gather the concerns and experiences of parents, as well as tips from experts like Regina Ascencio, a pedagogue and neuropsychologist; Dr. Michael Rich, a pediatrician and founder of The Wellness Lab; and members of the Lingokids Educational Board.

But we didn’t want to stop there. We also want to hear your concerns! That’s why we will be hosting two Instagram Lives:

Our goal? To continue sharing tips to ensure that your children don’t become “screen zombies” and that their screen use is high quality, safe, and educational.

What topics will we cover?

Our Instagram Live with Dr. Rich will aim to address a fundamental question for parents: Is screen use really bad? How can we ensure that our children engage in high-quality, safe, and educationally valuable screen use? To do this, we’ll review some of the opinions and concerns gathered from our survey of over 1800 parents and ask Dr. Rich for his advice and perspective.

Some of the topics we’ll cover include:

  • Can screens truly be avoided?
  • Can screens be addictive?
  • When is it appropriate for children to start using screens?
  • How can we ensure that our children are exposed to appropriate content and limits in screen use?
  • What constitutes quality content versus non-quality content?
  • Are ads harmful to children?
  • How can we set a good example for our children?

Leave us your questions about your child’s quality screen use

There’s no doubt that many questions arise about the appropriate way for our children to use screens, especially considering that technology is here to stay. Our expert, Dr. Rich, and our host, Kirsten Underwood, will happily answer all your questions. You can leave them directly in the “comments” section of our Instagram Live when it’s taking place.

Here are some examples:

  • Can I prevent my children from using screens?
  • I feel like I also have a certain addiction to social media. How can I avoid it and be a better example for my child?
  • What do I do if my children are different ages? How can I set different limits and rules for them?
  • Can screens hinder my child’s cognitive development?
  • What do I do if my child throws a tantrum when I don’t let them use screens?
  • Which platforms are the most harmful for my child?
